We got some more sun at the beach and then Lynn and Paul floated in the little pool. Gwen and Karen (with help from David) finished the mystery puzzle. Patsy did some washing. Men played some Texas Hold'em. We cleaned up to head to Bahama Bob's for dinner. We had a great dinner at Bahama Bob's. Bill and Jennifer went to store to get a ton of chicken for chicken and waffles. The biting flies came after us with a vengeance. This is a first as we have not ever seen the flies while in Gulf Shores. They finished the mystery puzzle and what a mystery it was. We played some more Texas Hold'em before the Vice President debate with JD Vance and Tim Walz.
2024 Gulf Shores - Fall Day 5 - Wed, 10.2.2024
Gulf Shores
- Day 5
- We got the early sunrise pictures (except Lynn - he seems to be too late each day). No one went to the beach as the flies are really bad in the sand. Lynn walked the streets and Paul gave bllod on the beach. There was a breeze out of the east this morning so the front porch shade was the place to hang out after a great breakfast of chicken and waffles. This a slow day since the beach was off limits because of the flies, although Gwen did go down and took a walk by herself. Billy and Jennifer also took a short walk but came back early. We got dressed and took the annual photos before going to dinner at Original Oyster House.

We cleaned out the refrigerator for breakfast - bacon, eggs, biscuits, gravy, chicken, and waffles. We went to the beach. We fed the birds the last of the bread, pancakes and waffles. It was a little windy - Patsy had trouble with her umbrella. We checked on the crabs, but they were too good at hiding. We did some packing. Lynn and Paul floated in the pool. We had an early dinner at Doc's Seafood and came home and began packing and loaded chairs and umbrellas and odds and ends. The ladies worked a 300 piece puzzle and we played some 3Up3Down.
2024 Gulf Shores - Fall Day 6 - Fri, 10.4.2024
Gulf Shores to Tennessee
- Day 6
- It rained all night and was raining pretty hard while we packed up the cars/trucks. Everyone packed up and left the Sand Dollar at 7:00 am. We forget to put in the code to let Harris know we had left so Sandra and Paul turned around an put in the code. Rays and Coulsons stopped at 59/I-10 at Hardees for breakfast. We drove a couple of hours and stopped at first Rest Area. I think the Wells and Mason stopped at Priester's for some pecans. That held us until we got to Calera, Al where we ate Chick-Fil-A (we seemed to want chicken for some reason). We got gas across the street at a Circle K. It took 10 minutes to fill the tank - the pump was so slow. Back on the road we stopped at the Tennessee Welcome Center. Traffic was heavy all day but was moving until we got to the stop and start traffic at the Saturn/Columbia exit. The exit is always busy going north but this time there was also an accident. Everyone got home around 4:00 pm. No pics today.
