Journey To Waimea Canyon

Departing from Nawiliwili pier, you will drive through the "tunnel of trees" to the south coast, passing the beautiful area of Koloa. While continuing along the island's one main highway, enjoy views of Kauai's many distinctive terrains and the small villages and island landmarks such as the rugged Queen Victoria's Profile, said to resemble the famed queen. The centerpiece of your trip, Waimea Canyon, greets you with a spectacular view: an array of rainbow colors created by the reds and browns of exposed volcanic rock mingled with the blues and greens of lush tropical vegetation. This magnificent canyon in the heart of Kauai is 10 miles long, one mile wide and 3,400 feet deep. It possesses a beauty all its own. Wailua River & Paradise Gardens

At the end of the ride the tram brings you to the boat marina where you will board a flat bottom motor launch for your journey up the Wailua River. Jungle Mountain Trek

Spend the day visiting Kipu Ranch, a fabulous 4,000-acre working cattle operation that serves as riverside National Wildlife Refuge surrounded by spectacular volcanic mountaintops. You will participate in three different hikes and will be transported from trailhead-to-trailhead by a covered farm wagon pulled by a four-wheel-drive tractor. Hike and swim in a deep-water pond at the base of a mountain stream waterfall. Jump into pools at the base of waterfalls cascading over black lava rock cliffs. Lunch is served at a 'Swiss Family Robinson'- style observation deck built into a huge Banyan tree and, this is where your optional zipline ride begins. Outfitted with a mountain climbing harness and helmet, you'll walk through a labyrinth of aerial Banyan roots to arrive at the gated take off area. Then, zipline through the forest canopy high above rivers and waterfalls at speeds of up to 30 mph. Note: Participants must be at least 7 years of age. Hidden Valley Falls Kayak

Mt. Waialeale 4 X 4 & Hike

Travel in an air-conditioned, 4 x 4 van, inland from the east side of Kauai, past the Wailua River, Opaekaa Falls and several Hawaiian 'heiau' or temple sites to the Keahau arboretum. Then fasten your seat belts for a bumpy ride, off the beaten path, across streams and through the rainforest to the 'gate' used in the Jurassic Park movie. There we park and have an easy one-and-a-half mile stroll past wild flowers and gorgeous vistas, towards the heart of Kaua'i, stopping just two miles downstream from the base of Mount Waialeale, located at the center of the island.
